The Scout on Widdop Moor
Just over the border into West Yorkshire is Widdop Moor overlooking Widdop Reservoir. I parked by the roadside and ventured up onto the rocky outcrop, shown on the map as "The Scout". This view is looking South-East.

The Scout runs for half a mile or so and would be quite well known if it was found in the Peak District, but here in "no-man's land" it goes largely undiscovered. The cliff on the right must be around 20ft high.
Stonechat
On the drive over, I disturbed an owl, sat on a fence post; up in the air was a prowling kestrel and here is a chirpy stonechat, boasting to whoever will listen about his latest catch.
Widdop Reservoir
The climbers' playground of Cludders Slack overlooks a calm water surface, hints of a little late sunshine.
More Rock Faces
The deluge that was known as Saturday 16th June has thankfully passed and the gap in walk reports at the weekend was largely due to the abundance of rainfall. However, I did manage a soaking and it will reported on the next "Pendle" walk.

Caves
Well, almost. The dark recess on the rock ledge could provide overnight accommodation to the displaced or adventurous.

Red Rocks on Cludders Slack
Gorple Lower Reservoir is just in view as is the "Round Stone" as marked on the map, just above the central group of red rocks.
Pendle from Widdop Moor
In this darkening scene was a larger bird, maybe a dotterel, not a curlew. Too dark to see properly, nevermind take a photo.
This is the place to be if you have a particular desire to be unsociable.
Walkers: Just Me.
Time taken: 1hr 30mins over a distance of about 1.5 miles. Birdwatching slows you down!
Take me back to the start ....
