~Dulverton Holiday~

3rd to 9th June 2013

Barle Bridge

Barle Bridge

This is a summary page from our six nights in Dulverton.

Culbone Church Marsh Bridge Iron Post
Porlock Weir and Culbone
Court Down
Northcott Tunnel
Dartmouth Castle Tarr Steps Roadwater
Dartmouth
Tarr Steps
Roadwater / Watchet / East Quantoxhead

Viewers, living or holidaying in the area, might consider any of the above activities worthwhile. Please bear in mind weather conditions and don't assume that the routes I take will always be passable or are necessarily rights-of-way. I highly recommend the "pathfinder" guide: Exmoor & The Quantocks and used this as my first port of call when considering places to go.

Also, for any country walk, you should always carry the relevant 1:25000 map and compass and be able to understand and use both.

Twon Mills Dulverton

Town Mills, Dulverton

We called in here in 2011, when the tearoom was open. I knew then that I wanted to come back to Dulverton and what better place to stay? The week before we arrived, Charles and Allison arrived and took over the business, but not until the previous owners had established a fantastic base for Exmoor exploration. The new owners are generous with their welcome; attentive to your needs and enthusiastic about their new venture. Our room - Number 6 - is a gem. Breakfast is fab!

Dulverton Somerset

Dulverton in Somerset

So, where's Dulverton? Take the M5 to Tiverton, A361 and then A396 to Exebridge and then the B3222 through Brushford to Dulverton. And hope that Barle Bridge isn't closed for repairs, as it was when we arrived.
