Pendle Summit
Scroll down for photos and a description of the walk....
Settle Railway Station
This fine evening, I intended to climb Pen-y-Ghent from Horton. But first, I waited at Settle to see the southbound "Fellsman" - the summer season of Wednesday specials is well under way.

Jackdaw's Nest
The Jackdaw is about to feed the chicks in the chimney pot on Settle Station. At one point, both parents arrived together and both jumped down the chimney. All this whilst the train became later and then later.
The Fellsman
35 minutes late and scuppering my plan to drive to Horton for the P-y-G ascent - there would now not be enough time for the walk in question. In hindsight, I should have driven to Horton to see the train.

The train canters through Settle Station on a downhill gradient towards a water stop at Hellifield.
T'other side of Pendle Hill
On my way to Pendle, I stopped to take a photo of her other side. There is a vast contrast in the demographic make-up of the populations either side of the Hill, how different might that have become, if the land mass wasn't there?
Mountain Farm
Back on familiar territory and the walk started at 20:05hrs from Downham Road.
The Steps
looked rather busy, so I went up the track to the left, instead. It turned out I knew four out of the five nearest the camera.

Four Runners
As it happens, son Gary and three mates were out for a run and have just passed the summit.

The weatherman had said, the day before, make the most of Wednesday as it's the last of the fine days, for a while. So, after work, I went straight to Settle and finally arrived home at 21:30hrs, I hope that meets with his approval.
