Pendle Summit
Scroll down for photos and a description of the walk....
New Houses in Barley
The walk started from Barley Car Park at 11:20hrs on a dull Saturday morning. The somewhat out-of-character and unattractive new houses are taking shape.
Lower Ogden Reservoir
On the walk up to the dam of Lower Ogden Reservoir, a wood has been felled. Further on I saw a notice about the spread of a disease of larch trees and the need to clear some areas.
Izzy The Dog
is with me today. I think it's her eigth Pendle walk with me, always a pleasure.
Upper Ogden Reservoir
Boar Clough Route
We approach the summit via the Boar Clough route.
Pendle Summiteers
A couple get there just before us. They will be allowed two minutes and then I'll have to ask them to move!

Fields |
A short and welcome bright spell arrives just as we sit down for cake and a drink. There are few conveniently shaped rocks on the edge of the steep slope and they face east, as seen on the right. Much to my disappointment, yet another dear departed's remains have been left in a public place - just where folk like to sit for this view!
Step Climbers
A couple have reached the top of the steps and await the rest of their party. There's always a small prize on offer for anyone recognising themselves, on this website and on the top of Pendle. Is he hiding something behind his back?

And down the steps...

Barley Mow
I think the business here has now closed. There had been a "For Sale" sign, which has no been removed and the restuarant looks redundant.
