~Barrow (Braithwaite)~

Barrow Summit
Scroll down for photos and a description of the walk....
The tent was pitched at Scotgate, Braithwaite and Molly and I shared chicken and rice before emabarking on an ascent of Barrow, just to the east of Braithwaite. Start time of 18:20hrs and Wainwright suggests 2hrs well spent on the route which I have chosen, so we should be down before it gets dark.
There isn't much to say about this one, other than to follow the well worn pathway up the spine of the fell. Bassenthwaite Lake is just visible here and the village of Braithwaite is down below.
Up
And Up
Blimey, I wish I could offer paragraphs of interesting words to the photos, but it's just not possible. A man in a red coat is descending, which in itself is remarkable. Red? No - the coat - it's really quite warm.
Catbells
Catbells is prominent on the far side of Newlands Valley.

It happens to be Molly's first time up here and she is dead excited to have bagged another!
The descent was down the path shown, on the flank of minor fell "Stile End". Minor in that Wainwright didn't offer a chapter for said fell.

Route: Braithwaite, Braithwaite Lodge, ridge rotue to Barrow Summit, Barrow Door, High Coledale Farm, Braithwaite.
