Silver How Summit
We are staying at Lingmoor View cottage in Chapel Stile for a week....the same week as last year and the price is just a few quid cheaper, believe it or not. This morning walk features me, Molly and our two boys, the ladies and young Oliver are holding the fort back at base.
Thrang Quarry
We walked up the main Langdale road for a few minutes before taking a public footpath up to Thrang Quarry from a point close to Harry Place Farm (see OS !:25000) map. Most ascendees of Silver How will not see this abandoned quarry, but it is well worth a few minutes exploration.
Quarry Incline
Our route follows a miners' track up to Megs Gill.
Lingmoor Fell
Our cottage is hidden in the trees above the roadside properties.
Megs Gill
It's not often the three of us get together for a hike, so this is great opportunity for some bloke-time. Molly keeps us in check.

The weather forecast for the week promises some sunshine and some not sunshine, so we have to make the most of it.

The descent route took us back to Megs Gill and then down to the river to meet the other members of the family.
