The Start
It was 1830hrs and well after tea. Gary (son, 25) thought Pendle Hill might be an option. I nipped upstairs for a look to the west, a sunset probability assessment. We decided to give it a go. Told mum that we would be back by 2020hrs, it really is that predictable.

Foulridge Reservoirs
Late evening sunshine on the Foulridge Reservoirs, these are at the highest point of the Leeds & Liverpool Canal and supply the canal with water (obviously).

We did not litter the summit with daffodils.
Sunset and Parlick
Fortunately the clouds were fragmenting to give us the sunset we'd hoped for.
The Summit
Pendle Sunset
At first I wasn't going to climb Pendle on the basis that the date i.e. 3rd April had been used last year and I'm trying to use as many different dates as possible, I'm somewhere in the '80's at the moment. But, really, there's no time to lose, seize the day!
The view to the south-east, with Fell Wood and Lower Ogden Reservoir in view.
Gary and Dad
Walkers: Gary Ratcliffe and Me
Time taken: 1hr and 8 minutes over a distance of about 2.5 miles.
Route: From the roadside, up the steps and across the plateau, down the track back to the car.
Weather and conditions: Wispy cloud on top, quite breezy and a few spots of rain. Away from the summit, broken clouds giving the opportunity of sunset photos.
Greetings Count: We saw two other walkers, walking on their own, then a group of three ascended quickly from Barley and passed us on the summit.
Take me back to the start ....
